Some of Singapore’s most notable icons are the traditional playgrounds from the past. Playgrounds such as the iconic Dragon and Pelican playgrounds were transformed into miniature sculptures that were given out to guests to bring home!

Based on the Housing Development Board’s (HDB) blueprints, the playgrounds were recreated into 3D printed door gifts with a uniquely Singaporean feel. With 3D printing, the National Museum of Singapore seamlessly integrates old with new – introducing modern 3D printing technology to a local traditional icon.

Hundreds of the Dragon and Pelican designs were 3D printed and given out on the exhibition’s opening day. A live 3D printing station was also a big hit with guests both young and old!

A bigger version of the Dragon playground was 3D printed live at the museum, showcasing the 3D printing process to the guests.

With 3D printing, highly customisable gifts are possible and suitable for events and exhibitions!
