Working with several well known educational institutions in Singapore has gotten us a place as a highly reliable and trusted 3D printing service bureau. As such, we have landed ourselves with yet another project that will affect the prospects of the future of Singapore’s infrastructure.
Planning the road traffic in a highly populated city like Singapore requires much simulation to be done. Many a times, it will not be enough with just computer simulation. Using 3D printed models of proposed parts of Singapore, the test data can be easier represented.
However, 3D printing a large print with fine details is always a challenge even for the best 3D printers. It will take a long time which will increase the chances of a print failure and will not be economically viable. We therefore use a technique known as variable layer height to keep the 3D printing time short but at the same time not compromising on the details.
Another challenge was to split the town map into parts that are easy and efficient to 3D print.
Working closely together with the team, we were able to overcome these challenges and ultimately, produce this 3D printed town map of Singapore.
