We were approached by a local university in Singapore to help them with a project on augmented reality (AR). Their idea was to project environmental related information directly onto a 3D printed schematics of a new town in Singapore, named Punggol.

To construct the entire town, many different parts has to be made and therefore 3D printing would be the right manufacturing choice. Each part was also printed in high resolution and would have taken a single 3D printed many hours to completed the project. The project group was also on a rather tight deadline and required the entire Punggol Town to be 3D printed in less than 5 days. Therefore we had to utilize more than one 3D printer to meet the project deadline. Delegating a total of 5 printers on this project, we managed to 3D print Punggol Town in no more than 3 days.

The group could then proceed on to calibrating their cameras and programs for the AR projection to take place.

We glad to be able to employ 3D printing technology to make help this group make Singapore a cleaner and greener country to reside in.
